PROJECTS
Scope of Work
The General Motors Warren Transmission Plant had been decommissioned and undergoing various machinery removal and relocation projects. Our millwright and rigging team was contracted to provide turnkey decommissioning and relocated services for multiple areas of the plant.
Serving as the prime millwright & rigging contractor, our team performed several critical phases of equipment decommissioning and relocation work. Throughout the project, steam turbine chillers, cooling towers, electrical equipment, piping and structural steel were dismantled and relocated to Warren, MI, Waterford, MI, Pontiac, MI, Romulus, MI and Tonawanda, NY for warehousing and reinstallation. Our ability to offer company owned specialty rigging and equipment allowed us to effectively manage and control the overall pace of the projects.
In order to safely and efficiently remove the equipment, multiple pieces of machinery and specialty rigging were used such as a 115-ton mobile crane, 90-ton rough terrain crane, rigger specials and air skates. In addition to the critical lifting demands, the project team faced a challenging turnaround deadline to get all the work completed. Through effective planning and execution, the project was safely completed on schedule with no incidents or near misses.
